Connecting you with credible online resources

There is a lot of information on the internet about care giving and respite care, but sometimes it’s hard to know what information you can trust. Listed below are links to several credible websites that offer resources from videos, webinars and online chats to caregiver stories, frequently asked questions, publications and support groups.

Canadian Caregiver Coalition
The Canadian Caregiver Coalition is the national voice for the needs and interests of family caregivers. It is a bilingual, not-for-profit organization made up of caregivers, caregiver support groups, national stakeholder organizations and researchers. It provides leadership in identifying and responding to the needs of caregivers in Canada.

Caregiving.com
Caregiving.com features the blogs of family caregivers, weekly words of comfort, weekly self-care plans, weekly chats, a Community Caregiving Journal, free webinars and online support groups. It also holds online events that entertain, encourage and provide an opportunity for a virtual escape.

Family Services Toronto
Family Services Toronto’s Seniors and Caregivers Support Service Unit provides social work services to older people and caregivers. Their work includes counseling, group work, advocacy, training and educational sessions on a variety of topics such as aging and memory loss, anger and guilt, how to access community resources, abuse of older adults, etc.

Mississauga Halton Healthline
Mississauga Halton Healthline Mississauga Halton Healthline provides information and links to all of the programs and services available in Mississauga Halton for residents. The health service information included in the website is for all ages from children to seniors as well as a variety of health topics, and more.

My Care Journey
Bart Mindszenthy is one of Canada’s leading caregiver advocates and co-author of the bestselling book, Parenting Your Parents. Bart shares his experiences through his blog and group discussions.

The Family Caregiver
This website is a resource that is edited by caregivers for caregivers. It lists provincial care giving resources, and features articles and forums on homecare and family care giving.

VON Caregiver Connect
This website is for caregivers everywhere who provide hands-on care, assistance and emotional support to family members or friends who need them. This unique collection of information is provided to better help and support caregivers in their role and features caring by health condition, caregiver tools, and resources including financial resources, legal resources, and practical caregiver tips.
