Eligibility for Out of Home Respite

To be considered for short stay respite in a long-term care home or assisted living building, your loved one must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be insured by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)
  • Be able to have their care needs met in a long-term care home setting
  • Need help with activities of daily living
  • Need onsite supervision or onsite monitoring at frequent intervals throughout the day to ensure his or her safety and wellbeing.
